Well, welcome to the first New on the Library Shelves of 2015!! How is everyone? Did you all have a nice holiday season? I'm back at work and the holidays seem very far away already. Still, 2015 promises to be a great year for reading, so yay!

Hello all! How was your week? Last night was the Fete des Lumières (or Festival of Lights) here in Lyon. A huge event that brings people from all over the world, with some pretty amazing light shows using the beautiful architecture of this city. I'll try and share some photos tomorrow.  

In terms of books read, received and bought this month, looking forward to getting to the two graphic novels I received from Netgalley, as well as delving into the All Souls Trilogy after the third book won at the Goodreads Choice Awards.

New Rules (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 Volume 1) by Christos Gage
A nice start to the new season, with some old friends and some movement in long term story lines.

Moriarty by Anthony Horowitz
A great addition to the Sherlock Holmes canon with two interesting characters and a fantastic twist ending.

The Midas Touch (Green Arrow New 52 Volume 1) by Dan Jurgens
A 'meh' graphic novel, never really caught my attention. If you like Green Arrow, you're better off with the TV series.

Another Doctor Who book through Netgalley this month plus a biography of Napoleon - I've been looking forward to reading a biography of the Corsican for a long time now, so this will probably be going in quite high on my To Read List. In terms of bought books, can't wait to get stuck in to Perfidia and Sleeping Late on Judgement Day.

No major books received or bought this week, but am excited about getting stuck into Conn Iggulden's two series'. I read the first of his War of the Roses novels at the beginning of the year and enjoyed it a lot. His take on Caesar (combined with his relationship with the man who would go on to kill him) should be fun!

A good haul for review copies this week, with a nice mix of non-fiction and fiction, including the latest T.E. Woods Fix novel, which is turning into a great thriller series. In terms of books purchased, a new Star Trek novel is always great to get, especially when it is a continuation of the wonderful Vanguard series! Will be reading that some time next week.

I signed up to Edelweiss this week, which allowed me to get a couple of ARCs that I had been looking forward to for a while -  Tigerman by Nick Harkaway and Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. I also purchased one of my most highly awaited releases of the year: Daniel Silva's newest Gabriel Allon novel, The Heist. That goes right to the top of my To-Read list for next month!

Of particular note are two of my most anticipated fantasy sequels this year: Seal of the Worm by Adrian Tchaikovsky, the final book in the Shadows of the Apt series, and The Shadow Throne by Django Wexler, continuing the Shadow Campaign series.
